Michael J. Morris was selected to join the ranks of the Egg Harbor Township Police Department in 1987. In 1992, Patrolman Morris was assigned to the Department’s K-9 Unit. During his time in the unit, Patrolman Morris served honorably along side two k-9 partners. In 1998 Patrolman Morris attained the grade of Master Police Officer. In 1999 Master Police Officer Morris was promoted to the rank of Sergeant, he was assigned as a shift supervisor in the Patrol Division. In 2005 Sergeant Morris was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant and served as the Administrative Officer of the Patrol Division. In 2007 Lieutenant Morris was promoted to the rank of Captain where he served as the Operations Bureau Commander.

Captain Morris is the former coordinator of the Police Department’s Field Training Program, and he has served as an Operator, Team Leader and Team Commander on the Department’s Emergency Response Team. Captain Morris also served as the Coordinator of the Atlantic County Emergency Response Team. In January of 2011Captain Morris was promoted to the Rank of Chief. Chief Morris is a Police Training Commission certified instructor in various fields including, Firearms, Physical Fitness, Chemical Agents, and Officer Survival. Chief Morris has demonstrated his knowledge in these areas while providing instruction at the Atlantic County Police Academy and through Department In-Service Training. Chief Morris is a decorated member of the Egg Harbor Township Police Department and has received various awards and commendations during his tenure with the Agency. Chief Morris is a member of various professional Associations including the New Jersey State Association of Chiefs of Police and the New Jersey National Academy Associates.

Chief Morris is a graduate of the prestigious West Point Command and Leadership School and was the valedictorian of his class. In 2008 Chief Morris graduated from the 235th Session of the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s National Academy. Chief Morris also holds a certificate as a Certified Public Manger, an Associate of Science Degree in Criminal Justice from City University, Bachelor of Science in the Administration of Justice from Thomas Edison State College and a Masters Degree in Administrative Science from Fairleigh Dickinson University. Chief Morris resides in Egg Harbor Township with his wife, Lisa and two daughters; Samantha and Danielle.
